Weekly Outfit Recap | May 5 – May 11, 2025: Recovery mode, hockey nights, and a little reset

May 5-May11

Recovery mode, Birks, Sambas, and a little sunshine

This week was all about transition. Coming back to work after being sick, still not feeling 100%, and juggling real life — but also trying to reclaim my energy, my style, and a little normalcy. Some outfits made me feel put together, some were pure survival, and one was a reminder that even on the days I’m not loving how I look, I’m still allowed to show up.

Monday, May 5

Outfit: Open Edit cream blazer, black tank, blue Madewell barrel-leg jeans, black studded Madewell belt, and black mesh Steve Madden flats
Mood: Back to work after being sick all week. Still foggy, but looking sharp helped me fake it ‘til I made it.

Tuesday, May 6

  • Outfit: Striped long-sleeve tee from Amazon, black J.Crew slim ankle pants, taupe Steve Madden suede ballet flats, matching taupe leather belt, and a new-to-me cropped trench from Abercrombie.
Mood: Started feeling more like myself — this outfit made me feel capable and pulled together without trying too hard.

Wednesday, May 7

  • Outfit: Quince navy cashmere button-up cardigan, white tee, navy and white striped wide-leg pull-on jeans from Gap Factory (giving conductor vibes), and Birkenstock Birks.
Mood: Comfort core. This was a “soft pants and deep breaths” kind of day.

Thursday, May 8

Outfit: Quince cardigan layered over a matching striped Old Navy tee, ankle-length Madewell jeans, cognac Amazon belt, and cognac Jeffrey Campbell flats.
Mood: Didn’t love the outfit, didn’t feel like myself, but I showed up anyway. And that counts.

Friday, May 9

Outfit: Butter yellow pants, Abercrombie sweater tee (last fall, sold out), black Amazon belt, and black mesh Steve Madden ballet flats.

Mood: Finally hit my stride — bright, hopeful, and just enough sunshine to match the pants.

Friday Night, May 9

Outfit: Anchorage Wolverines hockey game outfit: 907 navy hat, new-to-me navy Zara blazer, white tee, jeans, and navy and white Adidas Sambas to match the team colors.
Mood: Sporty, a little preppy, and fully on theme — felt fun to dress for something again.

Saturday, May 10

Outfit: Short-sleeve tee layered under a gray v-neck Mango vest, black Athleta pants, and Madewell embellished flats.
Mood: Long day adjudicating with no windows and no sunshine — but the outfit had just enough polish and comfort to get me through.

Saturday Night, May 10

Outfit: Oversized black Amazon cardigan, black and white striped tee, black ankle-length Madewell jeans, black and white Adidas Sambas.
Mood: Still tired from the day, but leaned into low-effort layers and cozy neutrals to rally for the game.

Sunday, May 11 (Mother’s Day)

Outfit:Target long vest, cuffed American Eagle jeans, brown and black tone Steve Madden sandals.
Mood: Low-key day with family in a relaxed outfit that still felt intentional — easygoing and exactly what I needed.

Final Thoughts:

Some weeks feel styled and intentional. Others are a little messy, a little tired, and surprisingly emotional.
This one was all of the above — part recovery, part showing up, part letting go of expectations.
It reminded me that real style isn’t just about what you wear — it’s about how you carry yourself through the week, even when it looks different than you hoped.
