Weekly Outfit Recap | April 28–May 4: From Sickbed to Dance Floor

April 28-May 4, 2025

From the sickbed to the dance floor — this week had it all.

Let me just say: this week? It was a ride. I started off sick as hell, barely left the house, and lived in the softest, comfiest pieces I could get my hands on. But by the weekend, I was feeling a little more human and decided it was time to rejoin society (and maybe put on real pants).

Here’s what I wore, what I felt, and what actually got me through the week:

Monday:

Outfit: Aerie barrel-leg sweatpants, oversized Alaska tee, pink open-front cardigan
Mood: Recovering at home. Comfort was the mission — and I nailed it.

Tuesday:

  • Outfit: Colette jeans from Anthropologie, striped shirt, new-to-me Gap coat
Mood: Made it out of the house. Still sick, but I layered up and felt somewhat like a functioning human again. This coat is such a good find — and Alaska isn’t done being chilly, so… coat season continues.

Wednesday:

  • Outfit: Alaska Brand sweatshirt, Abercrombie Barrel leg sweatpants, Adidas bold sneakers
Mood: Still home, still sick. Did manage to get out for a drip IV — which felt very main character of me in the middle of the week.
If you love this sweatshirt (and I know some of you do every time I wear it), you can shop it here and use code FNF15 for a discount. I’m wearing a size XL.

Wednesday Outfit

Thursday:

Outfit: Unknown. Couldn’t tell you.
Mood: I didn’t take a single picture and genuinely have no memory of what I wore. That’s how sick I was.

Friday:

Outfit: See Thursday. Probably the same?
Mood: Still down bad. Still no photos. Still fully horizontal. But hey, the sweatpants were probably cute.

Saturday:

Daytime Outfit: Butter yellow Wit & Wisdom pants, plain white tee, Big Buckle Birkenstocks, relaxed-fit denim jacket from Gap Factory
Evening Outfit: Jeans, white cropped tee, Blundstone boots, quilted barn jacket
Mood: I felt almost normal again and was finally excited to get dressed for real. I was too in the moment (and maybe too emotionally wrecked?) to take a photo of my night-out look — but you can read all about that night here. It was a full-circle kind of evening.

Sunday:

Outfit: Abercrombie quarter zip sweatshirt, Abercrombie barrel-leg jeans, Adidas sneakers
Mood: I had planned to go support my students at their dance recital… but instead I found myself at the dealership dealing with car trouble (again). No cozy Sunday vibes — just a sweatshirt, loaner car #probably5, and deep sighs.

Final Thoughts:

This week was a mashup of healing, hiding, emerging, and showing up anyway. From butter yellow pants to my ride-or-die Alaska sweatshirt, it reminded me that what we wear really does reflect where we’re at — mentally, emotionally, and physically. Some weeks are full of fits. Others are full of fleece. Both count.
