Weekly Outfit Recap | August 11–17, 2025: Back to School, Back to Outfits
From Third Layers to Concert Nights, Here’s Everything I Wore This Week
Last week was my first week back at school, and wow, the adjustment was real. After a summer filled with travel and rest, I went straight into early mornings, long days, and juggling all the hats. One thing I was intentional about, though, was getting dressed each day in pieces that made me feel confident and put together. And I have to give a shoutout to the third layers. Whether it was a sweatshirt over my shoulders, a denim jacket, or a blazer, those extra pieces made the difference between “thrown together” and “pulled together.” Here’s what I wore each day.
Monday, August 11
Outfit: White and tan striped tee layered under a tan quarter zip Abercrombie sweatshirt, Abercrombie ankle jeans, and tan suede Birkenstock Arizona sandals.
Mood: Back-to-work reset. My principal held a light meeting and then gave us the day to work in our classrooms. I wanted to be comfortable and practical while still looking polished.
Tuesday, August 12
Outfit: Abercrombie baby tee layered under a Quince button-up cardigan, black jeans, and Madewell studded flats.
Mood: A step up for professionalism. We had our district music department in-service in the morning, and I gave a short presentation.
Wednesday, August 13
Outfit: White tee, black Madewell barrel leg jeans, cream and black Adidas Gazelles, and a collarless quilted jacket from Eddie Bauer.
Mood: Comfy focus. I knew I’d be sitting for hours in teacher meetings and then up and down in my classroom. The jeans and sneakers gave me comfort, and the quilted jacket added warmth without being fussy.
Thursday Work Day, August 14
Outfit: Brown tank from Quince layered under a brown plaid blazer (Old Navy, last season), Madewell straight jeans, and brown suede loafers.
Mood: Polished confidence. First impressions with my new sixth graders called for an outfit that felt professional yet approachable. The plaid blazer gave me structure, while the brown tank and jeans kept me grounded and comfortable. I wanted my students to see me as put together, but not intimidating.
Thursday After Work, August 14
Outfit: an Abercrombie sweatshirt, wide-leg pinstriped pull-on jeans from Gap, and tan Arizona Birkenstocks for Moose’s Tooth pizza with my son and our friends.
Mood: Cozy reset. After a long first day of school, I needed something easy for a casual dinner. I swapped the blazer and loafers for a soft sweatshirt and wide-leg pants, perfect for unwinding at Moose’s Tooth.
Friday Work Day, August 15
Outfit: Abercrombie white poplin button-up, Madewell barrel leg jeans, silver Adidas Gazelles, and a gray Abercrombie sweatshirt draped over my shoulders.
Mood: Crisp and classic. First day with all grades felt like the right time to keep things simple and sharp. A white button-up and draped sweatshirt gave me polish without overthinking. It was easy to teach in, but still looked intentional for the bigger first-day energy.
Friday Concert, August 15
Outfit: Matching sweatsuit set and New Balance 327s for the Medium Build concert at the Alaska State Fair.
Mood: Joy in comfort. After a draining week, I needed the soft landing of sweats for a night at the concert. I almost let exhaustion win, but sweats and sneakers made it easy to show up. And I’m glad I did as the music and community lifted my spirits.
Saturday, August 16th
Outfit: White short sleeve crew neck tee from NUUDS front-tucked into Gap camo barrel leg pants, tan suede Birkenstock Arizonas, a crossbody Longchamp dupe, and an old Abercrombie shacket (linked a similar one from Amazon).
Mood: Weekend reset with a packed agenda. After sleeping in and finally getting a full eight and a half hours, I knew I had a day full of errands, appointments, and celebrations. My phone had been a huge frustration on Friday, so first stop was the Genius Bar. From there it was straight to a baby shower and then dinner with girlfriends to make up for my birthday we skipped last month when I was sick. I wanted something casual and comfortable that could carry me through every part of the day, and this outfit delivered.
Final Thoughts:
This week was exhausting, but choosing intentional outfits gave me small wins when I needed them most. Some days it was about looking polished for school, other times it was about finding comfort for family time or a night of music. Each look carried me through a different kind of moment, and that variety is what I love about style.
