From Classroom to Talkeetna, Summer Starts Now
This week closed out the school year, kicked off summer break, and took me from classroom to karaoke, Costco to Talkeetna — and every outfit in between had a role to play. The weather may have kept me layering, but the energy was all summer.
Monday, May 19
Outfit: Tan sweater tee, medium-wash Colette jeans from Anthropologie, and gold mesh ballet flats from Crown Vintage.
Mood: Cute and confident. The kind of outfit that gives you a boost when you need it most.
Tuesday, May 20
Outfit: Cropped denim short-sleeve shirt from GAP, black barrel leg jeans from Abercrombie, black studded Madewell belt, and black mesh Steve Madden ballet flats.
Mood: Structured and easy. A little midweek edge for the classroom.
Wednesday, May 21 (Last Day with Students)
Outfit: Abercrombie crocheted top layered over a Spanx camisole, Madewell barrel leg jeans, an Amazon belt, and TKEES sandals.
Mood: Celebratory, sentimental, and ready to dance. Literally — I ended the night with karaoke and calf cramps.
Thursday, May 22 (Teacher Work Day)
Outfit: Maroon cap sold here, beige Abercrombie tee, cuffed cropped jeans from American Eagle, and cream Adidas sneakers with maroon stripes.
Mood: No makeup, no stress, and fully in summer-start mode.
Friday, May 23 (First Day of Summer Break)
Outfit: Navy Quince cardigan layered over a white tee, Madewell denim shorts, brown Amazon belt, and brown/black Steve Madden sandal
Mood: First-day-of-break energy with a side of sun — happy it was warm, overdressed, and a little embarrassed by my ghost-white legs.
Saturday, May 24
Daytime Travel Look
Outfit: Madewell light summer top, Madewell barrel leg jeans, and TKEES sandals.
Mood: Easy, road-ready, and excited for the weekend ahead.
Wine Dinner Outfit
Outfit: Butter yellow Anthropologie dress and TKEES sandals.
Mood: Dressed up, wined up, and soaking in the experience.
Evening Look for Downtown Talkeetna
Outfit: Madewell barrel leg jeans, white tank, Quince XL cardigan, and Birkenstocks.
Mood: Relaxed, a bit tipsy, and fully leaning into Alaska summer energy.
Sunday, May 25
Outfit: Gap striped linen pants, yellow tank from Old Navy, denim jacket from J.Crew Factory, and Big Buckle Birkenstocks.
Mood: Cozy and road trip ready. A perfect quiet end to a full week.
Final Thoughts:
This week had it all — the last-day feels, a full travel wardrobe rotation, and the kind of outfits that carry you from the job to the joy. If you’re ready for summer, for spontaneity, and for living in layers that breathe a little easier, I’m right there with you.
